OAKLEY: Mixing Bats and Wolves? « Digital Ninja®:RECON™

Does Oakley make great sunglasses? Yes. That’s a fact. They are one of the number one Sunglasses Merchandisers for a reason. The design, quality, and technology they are able to fuse together into their product makes Batman envious. Who knows? Batmans suit might have an Oakley symbol underneath that chest plate

Have you ever seen their Headquarters in Foothill Ranch, CA? If you are ever driving down through Orange County stop by because it is incredible. It looks like it’s out of a movie! Like a Jedi Temple or a building from Gattaca.

These are some HDR (look it up) photos taken bythe amazing photographer, Neil Kremer.

So as you can see, Oakley is surrounded by their own inspiration and design. Their Design sense is highly futuristic or at least can be described as forward thinking.

One of their latest sunglasses the Oakley Batwolf, is one of those products.

The Batwolf design is great for everyday wear and fit snugly on your face. They are dynamically streamlined for active use also. Mountainbiking, running, or snowboarding, these shades will not only protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun and other objects, you’ll look cool while wearing them. The Batwolf is a unassuming style and significantly played down when compared against Oakley’s chunky, techno,  and futuristic styles like the Oil Rigs, Monster Dogs, or Minutes. The Batwolf is actively classy.

Additionally, you can purchase different colored Icon inserts to style them to match your daily color scheme.

The icon inserts provide you additional customization and might seem like a novel idea until you match that little “O” with your jacket or shoes. You’ll notice your whole outfit just pops!

Oakley offers the Batwolf in a variety of different frame colors with different lens colors also. As always, they also offer a polarized option too. These fine optic armor pieces are available anywhere from $87-$220: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/192-3368676-4630254?url=search-alias%3Dautomotive&field-keywords=Oakley+Batwolf

*Oh and did we explain how tough they are?

While exiting the car in my garage, my 3 year old sun decide to help out with gathering up our gear we had thrown about in the car. My son, grabbed his lunchbag, my iPhone and my sunglasses and tried to fit them all in his lunch bag. So we carried in our backpack, lunchbags, and whatever else we had. Well, I didn’t realized my sunglasses hadn’t made it to the table.

My wife came home and said she needed gas for her car, so while she was cooking dinner I would run out and fill her car up. I jumped in her car, opened the garage and pulled out. Their was a significant POP/CRUNCH. As I cautiously backed up, I looked in the center of the parking space and saw some black pieces. I couldn’t tell what they were at first. Then I got sick. I noticed they were a pair of sunglasses.  As I looked closer I realized these were my Batwolf’s.

Amazingly, the lens, one arm, and both inserts were unscathed. Had I run over the sunglasses at the right angle, quite possibly the other arm would have made it also. Or maybe if they had dropped a foot to the left or right : (  The frame itself and one arm were the casualties.

RIP Batwolf’s.

Maybe they will rise again like Nosferatu?
