New Information About Baby Development

Nothing is as interesting as learning how children develop and grow. Learning about the way a baby goes from his infancy to manhood will astound you. Growing up is a more complicated process than most people realize. Sure babies are cute, but they are incredibly complicated creatures. They have their own sets of wants and needs that must be met to ensure that they develop properly. Being a baby is far from simple. Good parents learn everything they can about how their children are developing, even in the early stages of infancy.

A baby is not born with a solid skull. This is one of the main reasons that adults need to be careful when they are holding newborn babies. Serious damage could be done to your child's development if you are not careful when handling his or her head-be careful of that soft spot! About three months after your baby is born its skull plates will have started to fuse together and you won't have to be quite so careful with the soft spot at the back of his or her head. It can take as long as a year and a half for the frontal plates of your baby's skull to harden, so don't assume that the worst is over when the soft spot calcifies together. Hopefully, just as with so many other aspects regarding baby furniture, you will need to pay more consideration to some things than others. Nevertheless, the bottom line is how you want to use it, and how much of it will effect your situation. We really are just getting going here, and hopefully you will be excited about what more is in store. We are saving the best for last, and you will be delighted at what you will find out. It is all about offering information that builds on itself, and we think you will value that.

In spite of taking a few months to start forming words that adults can identify, the range of sounds babies can make is amazing. This is because the larynx (or voice box) is still developing after babies are born. This is one of the reasons that babies can make more sounds than adults. Listen carefully because before you know it your baby will have started to use his sounds for different items. This is what teaches a mother to identify what it is her baby needs or wants simply by listening to the sounds he is making. Another interesting fact is that most babies' first words are simple words that involve the consonants and vowels that are made with the front of the mouth. It is because of this that a baby's first word is usually "dada" and not "mama": dada is easier to imitate and is almost always a surprise to both the parent and the baby!

Babies have a harder time communicating verbally and often resort to physical communication until they learn how to talk. Many parents use this as a basis for beginning the "baby signs" program with their kids. They teach their babies basic signs for food, wet, sleepy, etc and it helps the babies better communicate what they want and need from their parents. Some research has even shown that babies who learn to communicate with the baby signs program (before they learn to talk) go on to have stronger communication skills that people who were not taught physical forms of communication at an early age.

The fact is that most knowledge about childhood development is not widely known. Early childhood development is amazing. Watching your kids develop and grow is more fun when you know what is happening!
