Interesting Facts About Babies

Learning about the way that kids grow up is very interesting. Many people have their minds blown when they learned just how complicated a process baby development is. There is so much going on beneath the surface of infancy! Cuteness is only a small part of being a baby! In order to develop normally, there are very specific needs that a baby’s parents need to meet and take care of. Being a baby is far from simple. Good parents learn everything they can about how their children are developing, even in the early stages of infancy.

A baby is born with three hundred bones. Fully grown adults only have two hundred and six bones in their bodies. While this might sound like your body absorbs your bones as you grow up, the reality is that some of your bones simply fuse together. It is the presence of these “extra” bones that makes people believe that a baby has more flexibility than an adult, because the bones have a wider range of motion. If you stop to think about it, it does make some sense: when was the last time you could put your feet in your mouth? Most people already accept that babies are able to hear sounds even before they are born. Studies have been done proving that sounds carry through to the womb and that babies can have strong reactions to different sounds. Did you know that a fetus’s ears are just as sensitive to varying decibel levels as those of an infant? You can hurt a baby’s ears even before he is born! If something is louder than your vacuum cleaner you should turn it down-doctors agree that the vacuum cleaner’s noise is the cutoff level for comfort and a newborn’s ears. Vacuum cleaners usually push the limit of the baby’s comfort level with noise, so it is a good idea to keep the music down and to avoid things like heavy construction and loud traffic.

Did anybody ever tell you that when babies first start to grow, they grow a tail along with their other limbs? It’s true! In addition to immediately beginning to build major organs, your baby will also start to form a tail during the first few weeks after conception.

Eventually the tail will disappear because the rest of the baby’s body will grow and mature-the tail sort of gets absorbed into it. This is not that different from the way a tadpole grows to be a frog. Unfortunately, not everyone’s body will absorb the tail completely and some babies are born with short tails still sticking out. If a baby has a tail when it is born there are a couple of options: the parents can wait and hope the baby “grows out of it” or the parents can have the tail surgically removed. You will be glad to learn that there are very few risks associated with tail removal because the tail does not affect your child’s health.
