Rarely Known Baby Facts – Import CSV Using Easy CSV Importer ...

Children develop at an astronomical rate. One second they are just a few cells and the next they’ve got the beginnings of brains and lungs and other important organs. There are only forty weeks from conception to independent life. It seems like not very much time passes at all between birth and the time when your baby has very definite likes and dislikes. You might think you already know quite a bit about babies because you know how often they need someone to change their diapers, how quickly they learn to move on their own and how rapidly they pick up speech. This article contains a few facts about early childhood and babies that should be new to you.

At birth a baby’s skull has yet to fuse together. This is just one of the things that makes a newborn so fragile to hold. Your baby’s “soft spot” is nothing to play around with-if you are not careful you could cause your baby serious harm. Thankfully, after a few months, the soft spot won’t be so soft or nearly as sensitive as it is right after birth. It can take as long as a year and a half for the frontal plates of your baby’s skull to harden, so don’t assume that the worst is over when the soft spot calcifies together.

Babies are able to recognize music while they are still in the womb. By the time a woman is thirty four weeks into her pregnancy the unborn baby can identify different sounding songs. This means that the baby spends more than a month in the womb being able to identify different types of music! Some mothers even report that their babies will move in time to the beat of certain songs. This could mean that a person’s musical taste is instinctual instead of conditioned. Isn’t that great?

Common knowledge states that babies don’t smile until long after they are born. Gas is usually given credit for the first signs of smiling in a baby’s life. Even experts thought that it was the parents that taught a baby to smile when it was happy, that the baby did not know how to express happiness right away. It was widely believed that it was easier for a baby to learn how to express unhappiness than it was to learn how to express happiness. Now we know better. As ultrasound technology progresses, more people are able to see their babies smiling in the womb. Many doctors are now able to print out pictures for families that show the new baby smiling before he or she is born. Doctors now think that babies seem to “learn” how to smile because it takes them a few weeks to get over the trauma of having been birthed.

Common knowledge does not include very much in the way of baby development at all. Learning about infants and young children can be quite interesting. The more you know about the subject the more you will enjoy watching your children grow up!
