Biscuit and ball at Appendix™ Magazine Online

biscuitandball-appendix01All photos of a/w 12 collection provided by Biscuit and Ball.

The A/W 12 collection of Biscuit and Ball is inspired by the 90’s sports wear which is called Misericordia.

We were thrilled to talk with one of the duo behind Biscuit and Ball, Filippo Guerra the creative director and fashion designer of the brand, below you can read some of the things we talked about.

A: Tell us the story of Biscuit & Ball and how it started?

B&B: Franz Damoli and I, we were used to go often to London, the city we were feeling very close to. There we looked for emergent bands and stimulating music and particulars clothes, style and design to add to our wardrobes. So in London born our idea to print some t-shirt inspired by the ’80s alternative rock world and then one thing leads to another.

A: What is the meaning behind the name?

B&B: The name comes from a reverse title of a song of the band White Stripes: ‘Ball and Biscuit’. We like its simplicity which represents a complex thing though. Therefore we like
the contrast created between the name and the image, a contrast which defuses the fashion world.

A: Can you tell us what the Biscuit & Ball philosophy is based on?

B&B: Our lines are fine-tuned not only in the quality of the details but also in terms of our overall aims as a brand, to be an alternative to the major fashion labels that adhere to
the evolution of mass consumerism. At the base of our creations there’s the strong willing to fuse together various cultures, just apparently distant from each other. In every collection, indeed, different distinguishing elements live together again, and they demonstrate to be fully completing through the fair ability to synthesize cultural values they come from. This fusion hides the soul of a new identity, characterized by a desire of revolution and change.

A: How would you describe your vision as designers and creatives?

B&B: I think that creativity is the imaginative skill to find out from object, aspects and visions, even the more simple, something extraordinary and complex to build a collection or
a work of art with. In fashion world, nothing has to be passed unnoticed, neither a detail, to have the fair inspiration that let you create a collection. The street, including mostly the
suburbs areas and the people who live there, are a massive source of inspiration for us.

A: Can you define the style of Biscuit & Ball?

B&B: I think that Biscuit and Ball is a summary between the sport, street and military world, summed up in a chic and avant-gard key.

A: What can we expect to see in the future from Biscuit & Ball?

B&B: We are pretty sure that there’s someone out there who believes in us (heheh). Joking apart, anyway we will keep on going on our way. We do what we like despite sacrifice,
proud of our results, goals and the improvement we reach to obtain. It might be interesting to make some collaborations with designers or figures not necessarily linked with
fashion. And probably there will be some for sure.

A: Where is it possible to find a Biscuit & Ball garment?

B&B: In few exclusive boutiques in Italy, within our principal small city with our trustworthy shop: Macondo.
