Fun Facts About Babies You Might Not Have Heard | Articles ...

Children develop at an astronomical rate. In one moment there is nothing more than a few cells and almost immediately vital organs are being built. There are only forty weeks from conception to independent life. It doesn’t take long for personal preferences and personalities to emerge. You probably already know a few facts about babies, like that they cannot change their own diapers and that they don’t yet know how to speak and that it takes them a while to figure out how to move on their own. This article contains a few facts about early childhood and babies that should be new to you.

A baby is born with three hundred bones. When a person becomes an adult there are only two hundred and six bones in his or her body. This makes it sound like the bones disappear but the truth is that many of the bones that are separate at birth fuse together into larger bones as children grow up. Many adults believe that it is the fusing of the bones that causes them to lose their flexibility-they believe that the individual bones gave them better ranges of motions.

By the time your baby has spent six months growing in your womb, he or she will already be sensitive to light. Here’s something else about your baby’s eyes: if he is Caucasian he will be born with blue eyes but they might not stay that color! Caucasian babies do not usually keep their “original” eye color (blue). Don’t get too set on the color blue you see in a newborn’s eyes. Your baby might have different colored eyes before too long! You’re already aware that a fetus can hear sounds while he is still in his mother’s womb. Studies have been done proving that sounds carry through to the womb and that babies can have strong reactions to different sounds.

This could mean that a person’s musical taste is instinctual instead of conditioned. Doesn’t that astound you? Even though you want to avoid mercury, you can still have fish-just make sure it is a mercury free species! You’ve probably already had several people, including your doctor, recommend eating salmon because it is mercury free and contain a bunch of other stuff that is good for you and your baby. Some think if a woman eats fish while she is pregnant that she will improve her baby’s brain function and that her child will develop better communication skills than a baby born to a mother who did not consume fish while she was pregnant.

The good news is that the tail does not have any effect on your baby’s health and removing it should not be a problem. There are so many things about babies that are not well known-you will never get bored learning about child development. Everybody knows that babies grow up at an alarming rate. Do you know exactly how development occurs? Do you know all of the neat things that happen between conception and adulthood? There is no end to the number of interesting facts you can learn about babies-this article is a good example of that!
