Watching kids develop can fascinate you. The complexity of how a child goes from being a zygote to a functioning adult in just a few years is fascinating. There is more to being a baby than is immediately discernable. Babies are far more complex than people think. They have their own sets of wants and needs that must be met to ensure that they develop properly. Being a baby is far from simple. The more you understand about child development the better parent you will be!
Babies have three hundred bones in their bodies when they are born. Fully grown adults only have two hundred and six bones in their bodies. This makes it sound like the bones disappear but the truth is that many of the bones that are separate at birth fuse together into larger bones as children grow up. Many adults believe that it is the fusing of the bones that causes them to lose their flexibility-they believe that the individual bones gave them better ranges of motions. Think about it: how often are you able to eat your own feet as a grown up?
Odd as it might sound, some babies come out with some teeth already in place! Other babies have to wait longer than usual and won’t see any teething until they are almost toddlers.
No parent looks forward to having their baby start teething. There is no right age for teething to start so don’t start to freak out if it happens “too early” or “takes too long” to start. All babies develop at their own paces and even if your other children started teething at a certain age, there is no guarantee that this baby will do the same.
Were you aware that babies grow tails as they develop in the womb? That is no lie! As your baby’s cells divide, the major organs (heart, lungs, brain) begin to form and so does a tail!
The tail will begin to disappear as the rest of the baby’s body takes shape as it grows inside the mother’s womb. The whole process is similar to the way tadpoles grow up to be tail-less frogs. Not everyone completely outgrows their tails-some people are born with tails that are still partially intact. From here the parents can choose whether to have the tail removed or to hope that it disappears over time. You won’t have to worry about the affect to your baby if you have the tail removed-it does not affect your baby’s health and the surgery is pretty simple. Babies are fascinating creatures. We have yet to figure out just how quickly babies learn and by what process they retain those things. There is nothing like watching a baby grow from an infant into an adult-it is a fascinating and mind boggling process!
